What is Osteopathic Manual Therapy?
Osteopathy or Osteopathic Manual Therapy is a form of drug-free non-invasive manual medicine that focuses on total body health by treating and strengthening the musculoskeletal framework, which includes the joints, muscles and spine, as well as the internal organs, bones of the skull, and fluids of the body. Its aim is to positively affect the body’s nervous, circulatory and lymphatic systems.
This therapy is a unique holistic (whole body) approach to health care. Osteopaths do not simply concentrate on treating the problem area, but use manual techniques to balance all the systems of the body, to provide overall good health and well-being.
Meet David De Cotiis
Osteopathic manual practitioner I.O, B.SC. Kinesiology and Health Studies
Hello my experience is based on athletic physiology and functional body movements. My experience at the university level in the field of sports (wrestling, soccer, football, rugby) has propelled me towards rehabilitation and sports performance. I’ve obtained an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology and Health Studies and pursued Osteopathy with the goal of combining manual and body movement treatments for more complex anatomically related problems. I’ve spent seven years of schooling in the professional health care setting, and will have reached a cumulative 9 years by the end an osteopathic career.
I have only one goal, to get you back on your feet without pain.
But, to achieve this goal, you will need tools that will help you prevent pain from recurring. This is where my philosophy and the philosophy of osteopathy comes from; giving the body a way to heal itself. Whether it is specialized exercises, myofascial techniques or visceral manipulations, the best way to stay pain free is to give the body what it need
